Wed 24 Oct 2012, 11:12 I've been given a leaflet about a 'Lights Up' group 'for people with memory concerns and their friends, families and carers' that meets in Chippy on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at Highlands, 73 Burford Road from 10.45 to 12.30. Info: 0845 1204048. It began this month. Still no news of the Charlbury group, if any. |

Wed 17 Oct 2012, 23:30 And earlier today I noticed a poster down at the station, on the noticeboard just by the ticket office. I'm assuming that it mentioned contact details and so on. So things are definitely happening here - there's not just a deafening silence around the issue. |

Tue 16 Oct 2012, 12:11 (last edited on Tue 16 Oct 2012, 12:12) Jon, See the Charlbury Chronicle from last March: Following a successful launch in December, Barbara Dunmore, a local carer, and Oxon Adult Learning has established a Community Learning Group in Charlbury for dementia awareness. ... We welcome new members joining us at any time to develop a dementia action plan for Charlbury. No prior knowledge or experience of dementia care is needed. ... There is also an evening group (7 - 9.30pm) running in Enstone, if this is more convenient for people. Barbara Dunmore (01608 810002) is the local Charlbury contact for this group. Catharine Arakelian works as both Project Worker and Dementia Care Specialist. 07751 809271/01865 849768 / catharine@newdementiacare.org.uk We seek more local people and volunteers to lead on different aspects of the local plan according to their time and interests. Please feel free to tell your family and friends about the group and invite them along. |

Tue 16 Oct 2012, 09:31 So after ten days a deafening silence and I'm unable to put my friend (who is moving to Charlbury shortly) in touch with the group that meets here. I'm not sure what conclusions to draw. Maybe it no longer meets. Surely dementia should be out in the open and both sufferers and supporters supported. |

Sun 7 Oct 2012, 18:12 I know there is a regular dementia awareness/support group in Charlbury, and I wanted to draw someone's attention to it, but there is nothing on this website about it. Would the organisers like to have a page here, and to list regular meetings on the 'Events' page? If so, let me know at jon@evenlodebooks.co.uk |
