Not especially rare! Yours is likely to be Liriodendron tulipifera, which is a native of Eastern North America. They're generally planted as a 'specimen' tree. Lovely flowers but only ever at the very top of the tree!

Anyone know how rare these are? Have huge one near by & only found out today what it is.
