Starlings? wheeling at sunset

Came and watched them and photographed them last night. What a sight and how impressive. There must be nearly a hundred of them. It will be interesting to see if they continue once they are nesting: rooks are so quick to pilfer twigs from one another's nests I'd be surprised if they ventured far afield once they have re-built and repaired last year's battered ruins!

I am reliably informed that they are actually rooks from a rookery at Spelsbury. Still beautiful though.

Around 6.15 - 6.30 a great flock of noisy birds wheels over our house at the bottom of Pound Hill for 10 - 20 minutes.
I guess they are starlings about to roost but we've not seen them down here before. An amazing sight.
