This is a view from the Engineers' Inspection Saloon 'Caroline'...the train did have remarkable acceleration with the saloon being the only carriage in the train, and being propelled by a 2000 horsepower (or thereabouts) locomotive

What exactly am I looking at? A Firefly class loco? Probably accelerate quicker than a 125!! The Dutch implemented the "Sprinter" class of trains in the 1970s that took 15 minutes off the Den Haag - Amsterdam commute. Darn things pushed you back into you seats on starting. Why can't we do the same 35 years later for multi-stop commuter trains?
