THE LADYBIRD PRINCESS

Every little ladybird is a ladybird princess.
A tiny little princess, with a shiny red-black dress.
And every little ladybird has spots upon her back ?
Most times, two. Sometimes, more, but always shiny black.

Their inky feet (there?s eight, you know!) have slippers, inky too.
They tickle on your fingers, then they?re off into the blue,
for ladybirds have fairy-wings, to carry them away.
Ladybird princesses have a very busy day!

They?re busy doing fairy-jobs, like dusting off the dew.
They?re helping in the garden, like all good fairies do.
And busy being princesses! Doing this, and that!
Busy, busy, all the time. No time to stop and chat.

A fairy-princess-ladybird , please try to understand ?
She?s got so many things to do, she can?t stay in your hand.
There?s greenfly on the roses she has to shoo away
and lots of other princess-jobs, no time to stop and play!

So look after the ladybirds and you?ll be a princess too.
Not quite a fairy-princess, but one thing?s very true?
The fairies of the garden will take good care to bless
a little girl who looks after a ladybird princess.
