The picture shows how poor the road surfaces are, the damage to the kerb stones, the lack of maintenance and debris in the gutter . Need a Range Rover to navigate over the rough terrain. No chance of getting a smooth and consistent finish !

To be fair, the paint is probably pooling in the potholes. It must be like painting the surface of the moon

Line marking in Browns Lane couldn't even be finished today as cars were parked up the lane as far as the Co-op as usual, although the council or whoever had not put down cones in advance as they had for other roads - just an A4 notice.

This was the best time to do the new lines with the Bull shut. Once it's open again next week, the daily bus blocking by people from Notting Hill in Range Rovers will start again on the old ones.

Suddenly I don’t feel quite so nerdy about knowing the difference between a class 156 and a class 158.

As a matter of interest, those lines do not prohibit parking, as their dimensions are incorrect. I quote:

Three widths are prescribed for yellow lines. The 75 mm size should be used on roads with a speed limit of 40 mph or less, and 100 mm on roads with a higher limit. In areas regarded as environmentally sensitive, the 50 mm wide line may be used. Alternative shades of yellow may be used. The gap between double lines must in all cases be the same as the width of each line.

Whatever the actual dimensions of those lines, they quite clearly fail on the "gap" requirement.
