Sun 16 Feb, 17:53 In March 2024 the BBC reported that Oxfordshire CC had been successful in its £3.6m bid for 1,300 electric vehicle chargers, to be installed across the county by the end of 2025. It seems at least some of these will be slower (7Kw) on-street chargers for households that don't have access to off-street charging. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ckk74w6qr03o I looked little further and Oxfordshire CC has a detailed EV infrastructure strategy. This strategy proposes locating EV charging infrastructure where there is a) more interest in taking up electric cars and b) locations where fewer people have access to off-street charging. Finally in December 2024 the UK government published new guidance for "across-pavement" charging for electric vehicles. |

Sun 16 Feb, 16:00 My EV has a battery indicator showing the state of the battery and that’s what I checked when I bought it second hand. I totally love mine and I believe it currently costs about £4K to replace the battery, hopefully that will cone down, whether its worth it depends on the condition of the car obviously . |

Sun 16 Feb, 15:34 There a number of abandoned aerodromes around the UK many filled with relatively new and recent EVs. No one wants to by a second hand EV because they don't know the life expectancy of the batteries, as replacements will totally out weigh the value of the car. |

Sun 16 Feb, 09:15 Woodstock and Chipping Norton chargers - 22 KW maximum , 5 hrs for a decent and near full charge ( paint dries quicker ! ) The evolution of and the increase in EV , driven by government incentives and legislation and desire has failed , not providing the infrastructure is a key factor. When chargers are available and the need for fast charging, 300 and 350 kw facilities have the ability to do a similar charge in 25 mins. If the constant response to use public transport and the progress to a low emission zone in and around Oxford is the target and stock answer - then it’s missed by a long way ! Provision of future proof and workable solutions, not just an ideal tick box nod to a long standing concern and need .? |

Sun 16 Feb, 08:49 (last edited on Sun 16 Feb, 08:51) Well it doesn't apply to me as I don't own any sort of car let alone an electric one. However, I was intrigued last Friday to see that an enterprising ev car owner had dangled an extension lead from an upstairs window and fed it to his vehicle parked on Hixet Wood. Or perhaps the owner was charging something inside the car? I thought it best not to investigate. |

Sat 15 Feb, 23:30 As there are nearer public EV charging points in Chippy, Witney and Woodstock, it’s not clear what your point is. The Tory Government decision to waste millions on a park and ride in the middle of nowhere was always, to say the least, questionable. |

Sat 15 Feb, 20:45 The option of a 20 mile round trip to the intended charging station at Eynsham , in the multi million £ park and ride that is not used: How much time and effort is needed to keep this from becoming a race track / traveler site . |

Sat 15 Feb, 19:55 I thought it was dependent on a programme funded by central Government. The Spendlove car park was the obvious location. The Town Council owns very little property, so it realistically can do very little. It was considered, more than once, when I was a town councillor. However, councils do (believe it or not) have things other than cars to consider. |

Sat 15 Feb, 18:32 It’s more a District Council thing I think – WODC has electric charging points in most of the towns where it has car parks, but not, as yet, in Charlbury. https://www.westoxon.gov.uk/environment/climate-action/electric-vehicle-charging-points/ |

Sat 15 Feb, 18:29 This goes back well over 20 months and a subject for the Town Council to have considered ? |

Wed 12 Feb, 19:39 Hi all, I've just been looking back over the historic Forum messages about electric car charging. It isn't clear if there are any plans to install any publicly accessible chargers. Does anyone know what the latest is on this? |
