Bumping this up .. thank you all for resisting the urge to donate books etc for the next couple of months.  Margie, thank you for your kind comment:  I'm now regularly supplying HMP Bullingdon as well as the bookstall on Platform 4 at Oxford station, and other places too -- so Charlbury books are finding happy homes all over this part of the county.

I'd be sorry to miss any particularly good donations, though -- it's such a good fundraiser for the Corner House etc!  So, if you have good-condition books published in the last couple of years, or anything older that's got some real value, feel free to contact me directly on 07555 608780 or john@pjohnp.me.uk and we can discuss collection.

I'll let you know when we resume accepting donations at the Corner House itself.

Thank you, John, for the excellent work you do for the Community Bookshop.  It does make such a positive difference for Charlbury and is much appreciated.  Another group that has asked for donations of books is HMP Bullingdon.  If anyone has availability to deliver on a one-off or regular basis, the prison would be grateful.  Please contact the Oxfordshire Lieutenancy Office for contact information at Bullingdon: lieutenancy-office@oxfordshire-lieutenancy.co.uk

In a couple of months' time the Corner House will be closing for a few weeks for a major overhaul of its lovely Georgian windows.  During that time CornerStone will operate from nearby premises, but the bookshop will be closed.  (Further details, including dates, will be given soon.)

In preparation for that work, the Albright Room (the back kitchen downstairs) will soon be emptied and reconfigured to become a temporary workshop.  That's where so many of you so kindly bring books, DVDs, jigsaws, games (and a disconcertingly wide range of other stuff!) for us to sell or give away.  So great is your generosity that we have trouble in keeping up with the inflow, and in finding space to store and process it, at the best of times .. and it will be almost impossible when this work is underway.  So ...

... please, from now and for the next few months would you consider taking your books etc to other charity shops.  (There are charity bookshops in Woodstock, Chipping Norton, Oxford and Witney.)

The bookshop will remain open until the Corner House shuts, with the shelves still being regularly replenished from our existing reserve stock, but we'd be grateful for a pause in your donations until further notice.  Thank you!
