Sun 12 Jan, 15:43 (last edited on Sun 12 Jan, 16:07) I agree with Graham, not everyone who knocks on your door is part of a scam, just because they happen to look poor or have northern accent Obviously don't let strangers into your home. |

Sun 12 Jan, 14:38 Please, under no circumstances, let a stranger into your house. Politely decline the offer and if they don't get the message call the police. |

Sun 12 Jan, 11:03 He knocked at our door yesterday, he was very polite. Who are we to judge someone who wants to do good. I've worked as an HGV driver and many of colleagues have been inside and are now paying their own way in life. |

Sat 11 Jan, 22:05 Thank you for the advice Christine, I answered the door to the guy Susie has described so have just reported it online. I also have video footage which TVP can have if they need. Goodness me what is going on at the moment :( |

Sat 11 Jan, 21:43 (last edited on Sat 11 Jan, 21:57) Police advice is not to buy from Nottingham Knockers and let the police know that they are operating in the area. Also, make sure vulnerable neighbours know that they should do the same. Reports of suspicious behaviour can be made by phoning 101 or by filling in an online form on the TVP website. |

Sat 11 Jan, 21:15 Today at 2 pm a short man with red shorts and a black bag came out of Wychwood Close and put two 'full' beers over my garden wall. He had brown hair and then went on to Ticknell piece where he got into a grey van and drove off. Thanks to my neighbour we were made aware of this 'marking a property' activity. We have cameras so will be particularly vigilant and have reported it to the local police. It might be the same Nottingham knocker - only he didn't knock he just hid beers? |

Sat 11 Jan, 19:16 I'm not sure whether one could report him to the police - not sure whether he's done anything that could legitimately be complained of. When he first turned up - several years ago - I did manage to get him to leave, mostly by putting on my Queen Mother look (as family call it) - and I haven't been burgled. For what it's worth, I have his name in case someone needs it. I'll stick with the description of 'just annoying' for the moment. |

Sat 11 Jan, 17:12 He came to my house as well. I felt a bit sorry for him, but glad I didn't let him in! Should it be reported to the police do you think? I read that sometimes they come around houses to plan house burglaries, not sure if that's exactly correct or not though. |

Sat 11 Jan, 13:15 That'll be a Nottingham knocker. They usually go round in small groups trying to sell what you have described. Best to not answer the door if possible. They operate regularly in the area. |

Sat 11 Jan, 12:45 There's a chap who's been here several times with a sob story (changes each time) and ambitions 'if only' (change each time). He sells overpriced household goods, is very persistent once let in. He let himself into my neighbour's home some time ago; she came out of the kitchen to find him in her sitting room asking for food. I don't think he's dangerous, just very annoying and best avoided. |
