Fri 10 Jan, 18:16 Hi Ian I have reported it to TVP and have still got the CCTV footage of the suspicious man in Ticknell. I believe that someone else in your area also captured a man with a torch shining in his face in the early hours this morning. Utter scumbags!! |

Fri 10 Jan, 12:54 Ian - i’m not sure if you spotted my post a few weeks back but I also had an issue, the police caught the culprits leaving Charlbury thank god. But not long ago I also noticed a man hiding in bushes at around 1am in the morning in Charlbury after picking my wife up from Oxford. I called the police and they attended the scene but not sure if they caught him. I agree with you, we have to be vigilant and look out for each other because Charlbury is most definitely being targeted by groups travelling from nearby cities at the moment. |

Fri 10 Jan, 11:28 Can I ask anyone who has seen anything suspicious ( as you did Amanda ) to report it to the police please . We have just had the Cherwell Serious Crime detectives over to follow up on our break in and they say that the car key / car thefts are running at a very high level in our local towns and villages and they are desperately trying to close in on these gangs but need things reported however innocent it may appear . Looking on a neighbours cameras they clearly targeted our house/ my car last night so probably had been walking or driving around looking in advance for targets |

Wed 8 Jan, 15:05 I do not believe that it was delivery driver sadly. He was not looking for house numbers in a vehicle himself and the torch only came up to disguise his face from my camera! Having had out vehicles trashed and broken into and tools robbed twice over the past few years and as some vehicles were stolen in Banbury in the early hours I figure it was someone dodgy!! |

Wed 8 Jan, 12:49 Worrying. When I am out visiting patients we really struggle to see house numbers and use a strong torch to scan the houses for numbers. We sometimes do this from the car but often the driver has to set off with the torch and search on foot. This must seem very unnerving for householders. Please consider a large clear house number which can be seen at night, house numbers on bins are a great help. |

Wed 8 Jan, 11:54 I guess it's conceivable that this person was a delivery driver? I do feel sorry for delivery drivers who come out of well lit, easily navigated cities to deliver parcels in the dark to homes which are unlit or hard to identify. The other day I was trying to collect something I had bought via the Info/adverts from a house on Nine Acres Close. It was dark and raining, and I couldn't see any house numbers on gateposts or doors. When I eventually found one, I made a wrong guess about which direction the numbers were heading in and it took me literally five minutes to find the right house. God knows how delivery drivers cope! On the other hand, of course, he could have been scoping out homes for easily stolen car keys, there is a lot of that sort of thing around at the moment. |

Tue 7 Jan, 22:30 When I was working in South Africa, the vehicle crime rate was high enough that it was almost mandatory to use a steering wheel lock or similar. One chap I knew resolutely refused, saying that if his car were ever stolen he'd get it back within 48 hours. It was indeed stolen, and he did get it back as advised. The reason? in the glove compartment he had a half-bottle of Gordon's Gin well lace with paraquat. Not advisable in practice, of course, but the basis for a satisfactory revenge fantasy. |

Tue 7 Jan, 21:53 Haven’t seen anything but we had a vehicle break in couple weeks back and signs that someone had been in our back garden. The police had told me people had been travelling from the midlands to break into vehicles in the area recently. |
