Late to the narrative but I have PitPat - recently I needed to use a dog walker & forgot to go to ‘start walk’ BUT it tracked every day very well.  I find it brilliant just use with iPhone & have no problems, had about 18 months.  Easy to recharge & extremely cost effective.

I have Tractive for both my dogs (a recent purchase) and they both have put it through its paces. I had previously used Pawfit only one the one dog but after several months it managed to fall off my dogs collar and was lost. I had also found charging it became a problem after a while with the charging points (evern after being cleaned) not connecting. So far Tractive is proving it’s worth (they are not cheap). It provides a good GPS display. The trackers themselves are also securely attached to their collars and you have a facility to activate an alarm on the collars, so you can hear if they are in near proximity along with a light to locate them at night time. All in all I can only recommend.
Also, our dogs are so valuable to us, why would you not (if you had the sort that were prone, such as spaniels etc, to running off after prey) do everything you can to ensure they come back. It also gives you some peace of mind.

I had one dog with a Tractive tracker and one with the Pitpat tracker. When testing them together, the Tractive was picked up really quickly by the app. The Pitpat one could not be found. The app even suggested that I move the tracker to a better area so it could be found. Quite an odd request if you are relying on it to find your dog! As Tim states, the Pitpat is a one off purchase with no monthly fees, but unfortunately, it didnt work for me. In my experience, the Tractive works far better, and quicker.

We use Pawfit and yes it does require a monthly (or annual fee) for sim card. It shows you where the dog has been, how many steps etc. and can be shared with multiple users (up to 10). So you can see where your dog it when he/she is out with the dog walker!

I use the pitpat tracker on my dog it's a one off purchase payment and no monthly fee unless you want to know where you have been walking but can never see the point in that.

My daughter uses a tracker and finds it very useful. It proved its worth when I took her dog out for a walk up Hundley Way and it decided to chase a muntjac. I was able to track her as she headed across the Ditchley Road. There are various makes, but my daughters is 'Parfait'.

Happy New year, I'm just asking if any dog walkers have experience of using a dog tracker that's attached to the dogs collar. Only asking as a friends dog recently took its self off for a run whilst out for a walk, it was found safe and well the following morning. Friends don't live here so pooch didn't know where home was. A tracker may have helped?
