I agree! I think there is more of that hedgelaying opposite the church in Finstock, and a little further south.

Just a quick post to say how much I love seeing the traditional hedge laying by the edge of Southill Solar, on the road going into Witney.

So few hedges are genuinely maintained these days. if they are lucky they get a yearly cut back by machine, but it means the hedge base becomes ever thinner and they don't actually do their job of enclosing fields for animals.

In contrast by cutting and diagonally bending hedge stems we regenerate our hedges. The following year the hawthorne and other plants sprout and thicken the hedge. 

However it's labour intensive and skilled undertaking and so seldom seen in the UK. I can seen length completed a few months back and a new section just completed. I understand because its labour intensive but its not exactly cheap.

So huge thanks to the team at Southill Solar (and the network of experts and volunteers) for organising all of this. 

And I love the new fruit tree planting too.
