Wed 11 Dec 2024, 15:01 (last edited on Wed 11 Dec 2024, 15:12) Come this Friday evening and have a behind-the-scenes look at all five (yes, five!) floors of the Corner House, from its cellar to its old observatory. As suggested at our recent Annual Meeting, alongside this coming Friday's late-night shopping at the Corner House, we'll be running regular conducted tours of the building - starting in the entrance hall at 5.30, 6.00, 6.30, 7.00 & 7.30 pm. Look at how the more public part of the building interconnects internally with the museum's rooms, at how a goods-lift serviced the wartime restaurant (and its shaft might one day help us with wheelchair access to the first floor), at how we hope to provide an insulated, and fire-resistant, core to the premises using the central rooms on two floors, at how we're using the four rooms on the third floor, at where the Charlbury Artists are installing a butler's sink. Ponder with us how best we might if necessary use some space (for example the old kitchen, with reopened access to the Anne Downer Room) for a possible deli / café; how we can provide more three-season covered areas outside, better disabled access, accessible toilets, more self-contained premises for Cornerstone. Imagine what we might do with the lovely old cottage that abuts the main building. The Corner House belongs to you. Come and look round it! |
