Never mind the Aurora Borealis, check out the Charlbury Lights (Cornbury direction) this evening. You can see them even though it's completely cloudy and you don't have to stay up all night...

Aurora out there now! 10:00pm Thurs.  Look to the northwest.  Using the camera of a smartphone will show the colours better.

We looked for a bit around the same time but the sky was completely overcast (so no Northern Lights, but some reflected light). However my wife did notice a few curious flashes in the northern direction that doesn't quite fit your description but left us puzzled.

Tonight should be clear and a good candidate for Aurora sighting with a G4 (Severe) magnetic storm bathing us.

Did anyone else see them?  At first I thought it was a laser something at Cornbury but it was further south - green and yellow across the whole of the horizon.  About midnight.

Perhaps I'd spent too long at the drinks cabinet.  Then I read this:
