Thanks all for positive suggestions. The leaflet that will be circulated after the council's next meeting at the end of the month will incorporate suggestions.

Indeed Liz - and given a couple of days’ notice, green bins could be made available by neighbours I’m sure.

Thanks all. Many would i think be able to help if we had a little more help organising ourselves with rota, kit and bags. We did it for the market so would be great if the town council can help with this too pls. A whats app group, stored but accessible kit and a rota? Also a good D of E offer to our youth?! Happy to be rota'ed in! Thx

Just an idea, for those residents in the community able and willing to help clear leaves etc  would it be possible to take delivery of a spare green bin at no extra charge,  rather than bilk bags that get collected a few weeks later which must involve an extra work force. The extra bin offer might encourage more people to help.

Saturday morning report: A group of us - councillors and residents - cleared the bottom of Hundley Way, Enstone Road and the path alongside the tennis courts, as well as round the end of the Playing Close and fountain so it's clear for tomorrow's ceremony.

So grateful to all who helped. We concentrated on leaves today and were able simply to dispose of them into dark corners or grass where they will just turn to useful mulch.

We also took a spade to some of the soil which had accumulated along the kerbside of Enstone Road, narrowing the footpath. If we keep a better handles on leaves in future, that soil will not accumulate and the paths will stay clear. So more work this year to the benefit of less work next year.

We will be distributing a leaflet at the end of the month about Charlbury Community Works! to advise all residents how they can best help with keeping our footpaths safe, and our drains clear....

Emily - I'm sorry that I missed your messages. I don't actually visit the forum much. You have my phone number anyway.

Just so people are aware, we are asking WODC to provide bags which they will then remove. Their supply is quite sparse and it takes several weeks before they are collected. If possible, it's preferable if people can use their green bins before asking for a bag.

Emily - is there a chance that some nearby residents could provide space in their green bins?

Hi Liz, yes I do. I have sent you multiple messages via the website and haven’t received a response.

Hi Emily, I saw a note after your first request for a builders bag and that it had been satisfied. Do you now need another one? We're actually struggling to keep up but if you still need one I can bring one up.

Before (it actually looked worse than this when we first started):

After:

We have now filled a whole builders bag. We also have more more next time. If anyone on Hundley Way or The Green wants to donate their green bins, then that would be great.

Thank you for the support Liz!

The bag has arrived, so dependent on the weather, we will clean the rest of it up this weekend.

I have a bag that can be used. I could bring it over on Sunday. It is provided by WODC who will collect when told it is full and where it has been left.
I’m thrilled you’ve worked together to do this. Neighbourly team work is at the heart of the town council’s new initiative Charlbury Community Works! I worked with residents from Hill Close and Sandford Park to start clearing The Slade of weeds and to understand why the public footpath to Dancers Hill has been flooding. We’d be grateful if othe groups of residents who will work to remove large weeds and soil on pavements. DM me if you want to discuss priorities and need bags.

A couple of weekends ago myself, my sister and another neighbour formed a working party to clean up the path in front of the houses on The Green that back onto Hundley Way and also the alley that joins The Green to Hundley Way.

We got a lot done and managed to clear a lot of weeds, debris and litter, making the path safer as well as creating more space along the alley, particularly around the metal barries that lead onto Hundley Way. Two people can now walk along the alley side-by-side!

Unfortunately we did not have enough room in our respective garden waste bins to dispose of the green waste, so we had to leave some of the green waste in piles along the path and the alley. We made sure to push it to the edge, particularly along the alley to allow for access. In spite of leaving the green waste, there was a lot more room to walk down the alley that there has been for months.

Sadly, this evening I found that someone has dumped the ivy that we removed from wall aligning the alley along the verge of Hundley Way. I assume this was done with the best of intentions, however, we had cleared that part of the verge so we will now have to redo the work. The piles were there for a reason, not because we couldn't be bothered.

We are currently waiting for a bag from the Town Council. Hopefully this will turn up soon!
