Sat 14 Sep, 11:27 GWR is short of trains right now and there’s a lot of “short forming” on all the intercity services, including our line. I believe they’re about to get some more local trains for use in Cornwall, which will mean they don’t have to use intercity trains on local services any more, so we can get them back. The Paddington services are much quicker than the Marylebone ones – roughly 55 minutes vs 1hr30. |

Sat 14 Sep, 11:08 (last edited on Sat 14 Sep, 11:13) I've had to catch early - well, by my standards - trains the last 2 days and how delightful to buy my tickets from a cheerful person behind the counter who has also produced his own table showing you which trains are peak, off peak and super off peak. So full marks on that - and no excuses for 'twirlies'! A couple of questions for any rail buffs out there: The 5 coach trains are often rammed so why can't GWR always run 8 or 9 coach trains at busy times? And why do so many people at Oxfrod insist on getting on a crowded Paddington train when there's a nearly empty Marylebone train on the next platform (so much more convenient for Lord's!)? One more thing - On the 8.05 'bus' yesterday, 2 people got on at Finstock, one with a bicycle, and none at Combe. Retention of the stations there surely no longer an argument against re-doubling? |
