We are required to get competitive quotes. One in already. Hopefully the second soon. The cemetery is safe with the remainder of the trunk and one branch cordoned off.

Do we know yet when the tree will removed and made safe in the cemetery?

Quick update - the remaining trunk and branch have been cordoned off. I have been round with a contractor this morning to discuss removal. We also discussed the trees in the cemetery in general so the town council will discuss future strategy.

The council had been keeping an eye on a tall lime tree in the cemetery which lost a branch a few weeks ago. We sought a quote from a tree surgeon last week to deal with it. But today, in a most spectacular fashion, the whole canopy sheared off and fell to the ground into both the old and the new sections of the cemetery, leaving half the trunk reaching to the sky, and with one remaining branch... The area affected by this will be cordoned off tomorrow morning, but do please keep clear of it, especially if there are high wind again as there were this morning. We will then have the tree removed, and will be able to ascertain how much damage has been done to graves. For which we do, of course, apologise.
