Thames Valley Police is appealing for information following an aggravated burglary in the village of Chadlington, near Chipping Norton, yesterday (6/11).

An 80-year-old woman was at her home in the village, when there was a knock at her front door sometime between 7pm and 7.15pm.

When the victim answered the door, two or three men forced their way into the house and walked into the dining room. The men then grabbed hold of the woman’s left hand and took off two antique rings she was wearing.

The men also took the victim’s handbag, containing cash, credit cards and a cheque book. The only description available is that the men were white.

Detective Sergeant Howard Berry, of Witney CID, said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw any suspicious vehicles in the Chadlington area to come forward. This was a very distressing experience for the victim and we are very keen to catch those responsible.”

If you have information on this offence, call Det Sgt Berry on 0845 8 505 505, or if you don’t want to speak to police, or leave your name call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
