Tue 4 Jun, 16:52 Countdown reminder that the deadline to register to vote is just two weeks away! Exercise your democratic rights - if you're not a member of the landed gentry, people before you fought hard for you to have it. Make sure your kids and family members use their chance to have a say in their futures, too. Great to see that Charlbury Churches Together are planning a hustings with all parties invited, to ensure we can make informed choices - provisional date 27 June - another date for your diaries! |

Fri 31 May, 12:15 (last edited on Fri 31 May, 13:03) Sean Woodcock our Labour candidate knows Charlbury well and will be visiting the Charlbury market at 9.30 tomorrow morning if you'd like to meet him. He'll then be canvassing with us in the town on Sunday morning. |

Fri 31 May, 12:03 (last edited on Fri 31 May, 12:10) You can probably expect to see a lot more activity in coming weeks, Stephen! Banbury - which now includes Chipping Norton and Charlbury - is a hotly contested seat. According to an analysis by Politico, it's the third most likely in the country to change party at this election. There are a total of 6 candidates for Banbury, including: The incumbent, Victoria Prentis - Conservative Sean Woodcock - Labour Elizabeth Adams - Liberal Democrats Arron John Baker - Green Party Yes, Charlbury polling station will still be in the Memorial Hall. If you already have a postal vote like me - I didn't want to risk being away when it was announced! - you can hand deliver it at the polling station on the day if you are going to be here. If you're not going to be here, you need to apply for a postal vote by 19 June. |

Fri 31 May, 11:48 Interesting. Who are the candidates standing for the Banbury Constituency? I have received nothing thro' the door/post yet. You mention postal voting thanks. Do I assume that the voting on the day will take place as usual at the Memorial Hall. |

Fri 31 May, 11:24 (last edited on Fri 31 May, 11:30) Fellow Charlburians Just a friendly reminder that for the 4 July General Election our votes will be counted as part of the Banbury Constituency. The boundary changes mean quite a big shift in which party and which candidate is likely to end up representing us in Parliament. You can register to vote online (it's the easiest way ;) here: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote Deadlines * To register to vote: 18th June at 23.59 * To register for a postal vote: 19 June at 17.00 * To apply for a proxy vote: 26 June at 17.00 If you are home from university, or your kids are, you/they have the choice whether to vote here or where they study. Either way they will need to be registered on time, too. In 2019, only 47% of 18-24 year olds voted. See: https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voting-and-elections/who-can-vote/students If you feel like you just need more information, this is a great place to start: https://votingcounts.org.uk/ |
