It was announced on February 8th that the Romano-British Settlement and Iron Age Remains to the East of Chipping Norton have been designated a Scheduled Monument. The land is on the eastern edge of Chipping Norton, north of Charlbury Rd/Over Norton Rd (B4026). The site is south of the A44, and very near the track to Glyme Farm.

An exciting discovery, but one that will inevitably have implications for proposed housing and transport developments on the edge of Chipping Norton.

Will be interesting to discover if the site will be addressed as a topic on the Romans in Oxfordshire talk tomorrow in Finstock.
