River water levels

The gauge only reflects the levels at the stations. Because of lack obstructions,the bridges and other constrictions, the levels upstream of Charlbury were not so extreme during the July event in 2007. Once the river goes over the bank water levels rise more slowly as it spreads rather than rises

I'm astonished that the Shipton level of December didn't seem to reflect the notorious flood of the bridge and the meadow and cricket club that July here in town. Was that local level ever recorded anywhere and why didn't Shipton reflect it only a few miles upstream?
