Definitely not red kite, those pests, and  I think Yellowhammer is likely candidate. Thanks very much.

There's a great app called "merlin" that identifies birdsong.  It's amazing how many varieties I've identified locally using it.

Might it be a red-kite which has a high pitched falling note whistle followed by several short notes?

Might it be a yellowhammer? I’ve heard them around Charlbury. Their call is traditionally known as 'A little bit of bread and no cheese' . It has some lower notes, but the 'cheese' at the end is a long high whistle.

On the bikes around the county, there is a bird-song which sounds like a thin whistle. Can anyone identify this?
