The Bull could be open now, they’ve not done anything with it in the last six weeks. It’s more a winter close and reopen up when they have time and tourism.

If there's a message here for owners of Bell & Bull it's - Get On With It!

Introduced by friends to The Hare at Milton u Wychwood---great--they have a connection with fish merchants at St Austell (Cornwall) and get super mussels and fesh fish (best to check if you want to make sure it's a mussels day !).

Agree about the Tite at Chadlington---very good.

I agree with many of the suggestions already made, but if you fall foul of the 'last lunch orders at 2pm' rule that many pubs have around here, The Fox in Chippy is good and serves food all day.

And another vote for the very good Lamb at Shipton.

Another shout for The Lamb in Crawley. The suggestion to book first is spot on.

The King's Head at Bledington is fab.

The Lamb + Flag at Hailey near Witney did an incredible roast last time we visited - great portion + good value.

The Chequers at Churchill is also well worth a visit: https://lionhearth.co.uk/the-chequers

Second the Back Lane Tavern. Also the Swan at Swinbrook or the Lamb Inn at Shipton U-W.

Back Lane Tavern, Woodstock: gorgeous food, reasonably priced. Booking a good idea.

Another vote for the Plough, and the Tite in Chadlington is good under its new(ish) Chadlington Brewery ownership.

I agree with Mark but it is getting to be impossible to get into anywhere worth going to these days without an advanced booking.

I will add the Lamb in Crawley as another well worth a visit, but definitely book first or your unlikely to find a space.

Fantastic contribution from Matt, thank you, haven't laughed so much for a long time!

We recently had a good meal and pint in the Crown at Enstone where they seem to be doing a good job now it is owned by the same people as the Milton Hare which is always reliable in our experience.

In the meantime, what are people's go to alternatives please for pub food? We've been in the Bird in Hand a few times, which is excellent, although you often have to book in advance to get in as it's so popular. Lot's of people rave about the Royal Oak, which I also like. The Duke of Marlborough always looks busy too. Where else are people going instead that's welcoming?
