Charlbury Rubbish Friends

An informal group who pick litter on the verges outside the 30 mph speed sign along the roads in and out of Charlbury in the early Spring before the vegetation really gets going.

We have collected 100 black bags full each year for the last 3 years -  50% is recyclable mostly beer cans, alcohol bottles and plastic, and 50% non recyclable - crisp packets, sweetie wrappers, non recyclable plastic, paper etc.

The traffic hurtles along, but the skylarks and violets are a joy. Thank you to the hedges for holding the defence line and stopping so much of the litter from getting into the fields and being ploughed in, or we'd be even more plastic than we already are.

You will need stout boots, a hi-viz jacket, litter picker, bags, gloves.  Sometimes if we're lucky we receive supplies from West Oxfordshire Council.  Participation is at your own risk.

Always room for one more in our team. Contact: Flora Gregory
